Madurai

Madurai Located on the banks of Vaigai River, Madurai is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. The city, known as the Athens of the East, is globally famous for its "Jasmines". City is 450 Km south of Chennai, is well connected by air, rail and road. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. It was the capital city for the great Pandya kings. There are several places of tourist attractions in Madurai but it is well known for the Meenakshi temple situated at the heart of the town which attracts tourists as well as pilgrims. It is also one of the largest temple complexes and the greatest shiva temple in India, known for its sprawling landscape filled with sculptural wonders significance. This sacred city of south India attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors from India and abroad.

By Air :
There are daily flights to Madurai from Chennai, Bangalore, Tiruchi & Coimbatore. Madurai Airport is 10 Kms away from Madurai City.

By Train : It is an important railway junction on the Southern Railway network. It is connected, through Madras (Chennai), to major centers in India. The Madurai Railway Station is within the city center.

By Bus : There are excellent roads connecting Madurai to all parts of South India. Madurai City has 5 Major Bus Stand.
